Arround Werbellin Werbellinsee Theodor Fontane (German novelist and poet): „We are at a place of fairy tale, sitting at the water edge of Werbellinsee.” Werbellinsee, formed in the last ice age, is one of the largest and prettiest waters in Schorfheide with a size of 786 ha and a length of 13 km. The lake is up to 1,3 km wide and has a depth of 60m. The picturesque lake, which is famous in story and song, with its previous surroundings has attracted visitors for decades. Water lovers and water sports enthusiasts mutually enjoy themselves. The lake is open to all types of boats including motor boats. There are seven beaches and three campsites along the lake. You can enjoy the full length of the lake on a boat trip. There are several rare fish species like the tasty tullibee that can only be found in very clear water. You can also find eel, perch, pike, roach and catfish. Eberswalde The district town Eberswalde (district of Barnim) where you can find shopping centres has 42k citizens and is 7km from Werbellin. You can also visit the garden show ground with its family garden or the zoo, which is rated the best German small-sized zoo. Berlin Berlin is a 30 minute drive away. If you do not want to drive to city centre, you can use one of the park & ride car parks (for example Park & Ride Pankow-Heinersdorf, Exit Pasewalker Strasse) on the outskirts of Berlin with tube access. The tube takes 15 minutes to the city centre (Friedrichstraße - 15 minutes, Potsdamer Platz - 19 minutes, Alexanderplatz – 17 minutes). Or you can take the train from Eberswalde to Berlin central train station, which leaves every hour and takes only 32 minutes. From there you can reach the government district, the Reichstag and Tiergarten by foot or you can use public transport to get to other locations in Berlin. It takes 10 to 15 minutes to get to the train station in Eberswalde. |
